Summer got the best of me.
Guys, I took a two-month vacation from your inbox. 😅Summer got the best of me.My job let me know I may not have a position after July, so I went into full hustle mode. I applied for jobs, looked into side hustles, got new skills and certifications, and basically drove myself crazy trying to make sure I was okay. Then the new boss got laid off himself, and I got reorganized back to my old team.Add a health scare on top of that, and it has just been a year. I hit burnout hard, so I decided to chill a little, enjoy what was left of summer, apply for fewer jobs, and stop trying to turn every second into something productive. But I am back. Hopefully ready to expand without making myself crazy this time.Let me tell you about a side hustle I recently tried: Vinted.Full disclaimer: I hate selling stuff. A garage sale always sounds good until I think about storing it, organizing it, cleaning it, pricing it, and waiting on people. Nope. I would rather donate it.Except then the donate bag sits there for six months anyway. So now I take a picture, put the item on Vinted, and toss it in the donate bag. I started last week, listed maybe a dozen things, and already sold three. The buyer pays the shipping, and when something sells, I just print the label, tape it onto a bag or box, and drop it off. That part was way easier than I thought it would be.I also saved a ton of money buying more stuff, so we are not going to focus on that part. 😂But from the groups I’ve joined, there are people making a couple hundred dollars a month just getting rid of stuff and decluttering. Not quit-your-job money, but getting rid of things you do not need while making a little extra money? That is a double win to me.Eventually, I am sure people source things to sell on purpose, but it is going to be a while before I run out of my own stuff. The good: it is easy to list, the buyer pays shipping, and it gives you a reason to finally get rid of things that have been sitting around. The bad: you still have to take pictures, write descriptions, answer questions, package items, and actually get them to the drop-off location(luck for me its just my mail box). And if you are anything like me, you may end up buying more than you sell. 😂How to start: download the Vinted app, take clear pictures of things you already want to declutter, write an honest description, price them reasonably, and list them. Start with a few items so you can get comfortable with the process before turning your whole house into inventory. Have you tried Vinted? Send me your tips because I am still figuring it out.
